JEST 2025: Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST), recognized as a National Eligibility Test (NET) by The Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB). This exam is basically for the students who are interested in Ph.D / Integrated Ph.D Programme in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science or Neuroscience or Computational Biology.

Every year the exam is conducted by one of the institute among the many other participating institutes. As of 2024, there are a total of 33 participating institutes in JEST. Candidates can apply for JEST 2025 through “Online” mode only. The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted and Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. More than one application i.e. multiple Application Forms submitted by a candidate will not be accepted.

JEST 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who are interested in writing JEST 2025 can appear for the exam but before that the most important thing is to check Eligibility Criteria, so that it will be easy for all to learn whether they can appear in the selection process or not.

Physics:

  • M.Sc. in Physics also, B.E. / B.Tech. / M.Sc. / M.E. / M.Tech in disciplines of Applied Physics and Mathematics
  • M.Sc. in Mathematics / Applied Physics / Applied Mathematics / Optics and Photonics / Instrumentation / Electronics / Electronics / Astronomy
  • Engineering Physics
  • M.Sc. in Chemistry, Biophysics or Biochemistry
  • B.Tech Eng. Phys.
  • M.E./ M.Tech in Applied Physics
  • M.Sc. in Optics/Photonics or ME/M.Tech in Engineering
  • MSc. in Physics, Chemistry and Bio Physics

Theoretical Computer Science:

  • M.Sc./ M.E. / M.Tech. in Computer Science and related disciplines, and should be interested in the mathematical aspects of computer science.

Ph D in Neuroscience

  • M.Sc (Physics/ Mathematics), B.E/ B.Tech/ M.C.A in Computer Science.

Ph D in Computational Biology 

  • M.Sc./ M.E. / M.Tech. ​/ MCA  ​in any engineering or science discipline, with good mathematical skills and strong interest in biological problems.

Integrated M.Sc. / M.Tech – Ph.D Programme (Physics)

  • BSc in Physics (Major/Hons), or in Physics and Mathematics (Physics cannot be an allied/subsidiary/minor subject).
  • B.Sc. (Physics / Mathematics/Computer Science/Electronics) / B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical / Instrumentation / Engineering Physics / Electronics and Communications / Computer Science and Engineering / Optics and Photonics.
  • B.Sc (Physics) or B.E./B. Tech in Engineering Physics

Integrated Ph.D Programme in Theoretical Computer Science

Follow the steps given below to Apply Online:
  • Go to the website of JEST i.e., jest2025.cbtexam.in
  • From the home page click on the link to registration available on the website.
  • Make your registration valid by verifying it through the your Email or mobile number.
  • Go to the login link and insert registered details to access the online form.
  • Recheck all filled details and click on the submit button.
  • Pay fees through any of the convenient payment methods.

Upload legible scanned images of:

(i) a recent photograph (file size 10Kb – 200Kb) either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background;

(ii) candidate‟s signature (file size: 4kb – 30kb)

(iii) PwD certificate (file size: 50kb to 300kb), if applicable.
