NBHM Fellowship & Scholarship 2024: The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) set up by the Government of India under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), to promote the growth of higher mathematics in the country and coordinate activities for the development of mathematics.
NBHM provides financial support only to Indian nationals and institutions and grants Postdoctoral fellowships, Ph.D. scholarships, MA/MSc Scholarships for research/education in mathematics, along with research project on higher mathematics. and also financial support to the Mathematics Olympiad activity, run in collaboration with the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, for students at the junior college/high school level.
Also financial support for holding conferences/seminars/workshops and instructional schools. By Granting financial support to libraries of mathematics departments of universities and research institutions in the country is one of the major activities of NBHM.
The fellowship was established basically for the development of mathematics by continuously evolve and implement policies and programmes and to give financial assistance to research projects and to doctoral and postdoctoral scholars. The representatives to the committees receives the proposals, throughout the year, for financial support for varied mathematical activities, from institutions and individuals.
And Currently NBHM has Seven Sub-Committees i.e.,
- Research Projects Committee
- Travel Grant Committee
- University Programs Committee
- National Library Committee
- Examinations Committee
- Postdoctoral Fellowships Committee
- Mathematical Olympiad Activities Committee
Financial Supports
The NBHM provides financial supports in various ways to the institutes and individuals to strengthen the mathematical base/potential through study, exchange or other such programs from Travel grant and book distribution to research projects.
Apart from the various regular activities NBHM endeavours to promote mathematics in India at the advanced level, through various special programmes i.e., International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM) and International Congress on Mathematics (ICM) and training programmes as well i.e., Mathematical Olympiad Activities (MOA) and Mathematics Training and Talent Search (MTTS).
In this way NBHM supports individual to strengthen their mathematical knowledge and promote higher mathematics. To get further information regarding the NBHM functioning can visit the official website of their i.e., nbhm.dae.gov.in
