JNMF Fellowship 2024: The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund (JNMF), has instituted Jawaharlal Nehru Fellowships dedicated to the encouragement, support and patronage of higher learning and of free intellectual inquiry. The Fellowships are open to scholars in every discipline– the sciences as well as the humanities.
These seek to provide an opportunity to exceptionally talented persons to devote themselves with freedom to their creative work for a period of two years. The Fellowships are open to Indian citizens and they have complete freedom to work at places of their choice within India.
They also provide them ‘Scholarship’ called as ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Fellowships for Post-graduate Studies in India and abroad’, later called “Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarships for Doctoral Studies”. And also conducts other Memorial Functions as well.

JNMF Fellowship Application Form 2024 Important Dates

Applying Date and Last Date: The advertisement for JNMF Fellowship and Scholarship Application form is released towards the end of March every year and should be completed by reach Administrative Secretary, Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, Teen Murti House, New Delhi-110 011 on or before 31 May.
Interview Date: The Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview any time during November/December.
Commence of the JNMF Fellowship and Scholarship: The JNMF Fellowship and Scholarship will commence from January every year.
Duration of JNMF Fellowship and Scholarship: Duration of JNMF Fellowship and Scholarship is up to 2 years.
Application Form Requirement: The following documents should be securely attached to the Application Form:-
- The applicant should have passport size photograph to be pasted on the form.
- As per the attached format a synopsis of the proposed project.
- Doctoral Monitoring Committee’s report or Supervisor’s report/ recommendations.
- Postal Order/Demand Draft for Rs.100.
- Ph.D registration certificate.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates are advised to follow the mentioned JNMF Fellowship and Scholarship Eligibility Criteria in order to get admission in Amrita University. It is mandatory to satisfy all eligibility norms in all aspects.
- The Candidate should have a FIRST Class Post-graduate degree with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate in both graduate and post graduate level,
- The Candidate should have been already registered/admitted for Ph.D. degree with a recognized University/Institution in India. Those who have applied for registration and have not yet been registered at the time of submission of application, are not eligible to apply,
- The Candidate should not be above 35 years of age,
- And the candidate should be a full-time Ph.D. Scholar.
The JNMF Fellowship and Scholarship are available for Ph.D. study in India to the following two categories of students i.e.,
- Indian Nationals
- Nationals of other Asian countries
