CMI MSc Admission 2024: CMI stands for Chennai Mathematical Institute, a centre of excellence for teaching and research in the mathematical sciences. It was founded as a part of the SPIC Science Foundation, funded by the SPIC group in Chennai and then it has been an autonomous institution.
Today, CMI is a rare example of public-private partnership in research and education in India, managed by a Governing Council consisting of eminent persons. The Institute receives major private funding, side by side with substantial financial support from the Government of India.
The institute offers courses in Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics from BSc to PhD. Every year the institute conducts separate exam for admission in different courses. Candidates can apply for CMI MSc 2024 through “Online” mode only. The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted. And candidate can apply to any combination of the three MSc programmes i.e., MSc Mathematics, MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science.
The combination that you can apply for depends on entrance examination that you have to chosen to write.
- If you have selected the MSc Mathematics entrance examination, you can apply to all three MSc programmes.
- If you have selected the MSc Computer Science entrance examination, you can apply to MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science, but not to MSc Mathematics.
- If you have selected the MSc Data Science entrance examination, you can only apply to MSc Data Science.
If you apply to multiple MSc programmes, you will be short-listed based on your performance in the exam that you write and called for an interview for the other programmes.
CMI MSc Admission 2024 Eligibility Criteria
The candidates who are interested in writing CMI MSc Entrance Exam 2024 can appear for the exam but before that the most important thing is to check Eligibility Criteria, so that it will be easy for all to learn whether they can appear in the selection process or not.
- There is separate entrance examination for the 3 MSc programmes i.e., MSc Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics. You can apply to any combination of the three MSc programmes i.e., MSc Mathematics, MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science. There will be no changes after admission.

- Go to the website of CMI MSc i.e., apply2024.cmi.ac.in
- From the home page click on the link to registration available on the website.
- Make your registration valid by verifying it through the your Email or mobile number.
- Go to the login link and insert registered details to access the online form.
- Recheck all filled details and click on the submit button.
- Pay fees through any of the convenient payment methods.
CMI MSc 2024 Application Fee:
The application fee is Rs 1000 or Rs 1200, depending on the combination of programmes that you apply for.
- Application fees must be paid online. You will find a link after you fill in your details in the application form.
- If you are unable to apply the application fee online, please write to admissions@cmi.ac.in with your Applicant ID explaining the circumstances.

(i) a recent photograph (file size 10Kb – 200Kb) either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background;
(ii) candidate‟s signature (file size: 4kb – 30kb)
(iii) PwD certificate (file size: 50kb to 300kb), if applicable.
